BAAR, SWITZERLAND. 19 JANUARY 2023 – Global Message Services (GMS), the communications platform provider (CPaaS) for enterprises and an international messaging service provider for Mobile Network Operators worldwide, today announced Nikos Babalis as its newly appointed Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO). In partnership with GMS CEO Charles Upchurch and the executive team, Nikos is tasked with determining and implementing the technology, IT, and information security strategy for the organisation as it enters a new phase of growth.
A highly skilled technologist with 25 years of international experience, Nikos joins GMS from Wind Hellas (now Nova) where he served as Chief Information and Transformation Officer (CITO). He has also held senior executive roles with Mobile Broadband Network Ltd (MBNL), Victus Networks and Vodafone. In his new role with GMS, Nikos will spearhead the long-term goals of the company’s technology infrastructure development. He will lead the digital transformation of the organisation, which will involve delivering IT and technology services for internal and external customers to support the business in reaching its strategic goals. Nikos will report directly to CEO Charles Upchurch.
“The entire executive team and I are very happy to welcome Nikos to GMS as CTIO. Nikos brings with him a wealth of experience and the ability to drive change within organisations from a technology perspective. As we look to innovate further and achieve our growth ambitions over the course of the next 3-5 years, having Nikos’ knowledge onboard will be invaluable,” said Charles Upchurch, CEO, GMS.
“After speaking with Charles and other members of the GMS team, I completely bought into their vision for the business. The challenge excites me and I can’t wait to get started,” said Niko Babalis, CTIO, GMS. “GMS has been growing year on year and has plans to scale even further. This, alongside their tier one list of enterprise and MNO customers, and their commitment to using technology to deliver more for new and existing customers makes this an incredible opportunity for me, both professionally and personally.”
