External Communications Manager

We are seeking an External Communications Manager with experience in managing speakership engagements and thought leadership programs. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a role focused on managing and implementing our thought leadership strategy. You will closely collaborate with event and product marketing teams to identify and pitch for speakership opportunities, develop relationships with key industry associations, and manage projects for our thought leadership program. The role requires a candidate who has a background in copywriting and editing and is comfortable working with speakers to craft insightful presentations and opinion pieces.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the delivery of the communications and marketing strategy, working as a team.
  • Develop and execute a yearly plan of thought leadership opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing industry associations, identifying opportunities for engagement and managing projects.
  • Research and evaluate opportunities to join new industry associations per relevant subjects, aligned to our strategic priorities.
  • Manage opportunities for speakerships at events, working closely with the event team to ensure a collaborative and joined-up approach.
  • Draft communications materials as relevant for thought leadership opportunities.
  • Coach and brief speakers ahead of their engagements to ensure message consistency.
  • Support speakers during their engagements and attend events to listen and provide feedback where appropriate.
  • Manage company participation in an awards program.
  • Support the communications team across projects as required.

 

What we expect: 

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Communications Manager or similar role in the Telecom or Technology industry.
  • Strong editorial writing skills with the ability to distill fragmented information into user-friendly, accessible content.
  • Storytelling skills.
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills.
  • Fluent English (both spoken and written).
  • Confidence in establishing professional relationships with leaders and stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
